Michael Abrash is the chief scientist at Oculus. In this video: https://youtu.be/RCB_mfGmh9w he shows off the current tech they are working on and how advanced it will be within the next couple years. At the 147 min mark they show how they already have the tech to use facial tracking to “scan you into the game” so you can actually meet up with your friends in games and it’s you… not a character. I find it hard to believe that anyone could see this technology and not be blown away. All we need now are the Naughty Dog’s and Rockstars of the world to make experiences for it. In five years you Will own a headset.

Project: Borealis is a nice thing to look forward to. HL: Alyx doesn't look canonically correct to the lore, considering the striders, attack helicopters, gunships, citadel, etc. But that's just my opinion.
